《Spud Goes Green》
This is a delightful book which appeals particularly to a school-age audience but also to adults with an interest in the environment and a sense of fun!? It is impossible to read this book without admiring the illustrations by Nigel Baines which offer as much attraction and entertainment as the text itself. It certainly has my vote and is already on my young grand-daughter’s bookshelf.

《George Orwell: Essays》
George Orwell is one of memorable writers of his generation. Many of his books are influenced by his experiences, including the time he spent fighting for the Republicans in Spain, where he was wounded and never fully recovered. He also fought in the Second World War. His most well know book is Animal Farm, which has been made in to a movie and is often used in schools in their English literature syllabus. This collection is an excellent introduction to Orwell's essays, containing his most famous and insightful non-fiction writing including "Shooting and Elephant" and "Politics and the English Language".

《1421 The Year China Discovered the World》
It is interesting that it took an ex- British naval officer to remind us of China's incredible achievements way back in the Song Dynasty. Once again, this book highlights the best of a great British tradition of reaching out and studying other cultures. It has also shown, ironically, that China also once had such great ambitions and that she started her decline on the day she decided to close her door.

《Travels With My Aunt》
Travels With My Aunt is a book I have read several times. It is one of Graham Greene’s most accessible books because it is light-hearted and funny. I often find myself laughing out loud at the descriptions of the various characters in the story and the adventures they have. It is an artfully written novel and travels along at a quick pace.
I first read this book in my early 20s. At the time I was working in London and had to commute for almost 3 hours every day. I read many books on my journey to relieve the tedium of sitting for long stretches of time on the tube.
