Rushdie pulls out of India festival
Updated: 10.2.2012
The author Salman Rushdie has pulled out of a literature festival in India.
The writer said he had been warned by intelligence sources that people might have been paid to assassinate him there.

Some Indian Muslim groups had said he should be barred from the festival because of the 20-year-old controversy over his novel the Satanic Verses - which the late Iranian leader Ayatollah Khomeini said insulted Islam.
