Reclusive novelist J D Salinger dies
The American author, J D Salinger, has died at home in New Hampshire at the age of ninety-one. His son said he died of natural causes. The reclusive writer won lasting international fame with his novel "The Catcher in the Rye" which appeared in 1951. But in later life he became recluse and published no works after 1965.

Howard Jacobson wins Man Booker prize
